We just put together this clip video slash official lyric video for our upcoming single, “Always Almost Ready” (out this Friday, May 31!). We just wanted to make sure you knew the words so you could sing ’em with all your heart the next you come to a show, ya know?
We also got a nice early review for the song from the fine folks at Rock & Roll Fables, who called it a “catchy ass summer anthem” that sounds like “a cross between ’80’s Bryan Adams (Lookin’ at you, ‘Summer Of ’69’!), Weezer, and Foo Fighters, with big hooks and larger than life synth sounds.” Which is pretty much exactly the response we were hoping for.
Anyway, here are the lyrics, if you still need ’em:
I want to rock but I can’t find a drummer
Who won’t run off with every girl I love
And the memory of one good summer
Was not enough, oh no
It was never enoughI want to love but I can’t find a lover
I want to drive but I can’t find the keys
I want to sing but I can’t remember
The words to “The Best Of Me”I’m not broke but I might be broken
Or at least in disrepair
I look around and I’m always hoping
That I will see you thereBut there’s always something in my way
I’m always almost readyI want to rock but I can’t find a drummer
Who won’t run off with every girl I love
And the memory of one good summer
Was not enough, oh no
It was never enoughI wonder if I’m good enough for you
Wonder if you’re good enough for me
I forget if we’re good together
Or if we used to beI want to live but I can’t be bothered
I think of you and it makes me want to die
I look around, all the doors are open
You’re always asking whyBut there’s always something in your way
You’re always almost readyI want to rock but I can’t find a drummer
Who won’t run off with every girl I love
And the memory of one good summer
Was not enough, oh no
It was never enoughI know I said I would call
But I’m pretty sure one of us might be sleeping
That clock on the wall
Traded pleasant tick-tocks for incessant beeping
Never stopped to ask whether time’s worth keepingI want to rock
But I can’t find a drummer
Who won’t run off with every girl I love
And the memory of one good summer
Was not enough, oh no
It was never enoughAnd the memory of one good summer
Was not enough, oh no
It was never enough
