A Tuesday night show is always tricky. But when Baby Got Back Talk says they’re available, you do what you can to make it work.
And then sometimes Narragansett pulls through in a pinch with an all-night beer sponsorship and suddenly you’ve got yourself a decent crowd for a bunch of awesome bands on a Tuesday night in Allston. (Thanks, Gansett Cam!)
Orbiter
The evening kicked off with Orbiter—a band we’d been meaning to play with for a while anyway, and who absolutely did not disappoint.
The Roland High Life
We played next, tearing through a tight 30 minutes that we call the Bangers Set—and damn, we played like our asses were on fire. I don’t think any of us had any voice left by the end, but it was well worth it. Once again, our Wheatus cover totally popped off:
Our new friend Alex Ilyadis of Good June (and apparently a ton of other bands?) also came out and took some great photos of us, too. He did some pretty cool work with the flash here:
(Also it was randomly 60 degrees out in December and I definitely should not have worn that Christmas sweater, oof.)
Baby Got Back Talk
Baby Got Back Talk hit the stage next and absolutely did not disappoint.
They even had an audience members rush up on stage for what was basically BGBT Karaoke when they played “Historically White College.” This band is the real deal, y’all.
Salem Wolves
Finally, Salem Wolves closed out the night — with our very own Chris Correia on the drums! (Don’t worry, he’s not leaving us. We can share.)
This was our first time seeing them since Chris joined the band. Maybe we’re biased, but his heavy hitting was a perfect compliment to their epically brooding alt rock stadium jams. After the show, we were joking with the Wolves that all our songs are in G major and all their songs are in E minor, with Chris as the bridge between them — making our bands a sort of a Yin and Yang inverse of one another.
I don’t know what that means but I got a kick out of it anyway. Did I mention there was free beer?
